Guest guest
This is a question to anyone in the group who may be using this technique. Several of our therapists recently took a weekend seminar on spinal manipulation and would like to incorporate these techniques into their treatment regime. We are located in the state of Florida and the practice act specifically prohibits a Physical Therapist from using Chiropractic spinal manipulation. Here is the exact wording: " The practice of physical therapy as defined in this chapter does not authorize a physical therapy practitioner to practice chiropractic medicine as defined in chapter 460, including specific spinal manipulation. For the performance of specific chiropractic spinal manipulation, a physical therapist shall refer the patient to a health care practitioner licensed under chapter 460. " My question to the group is for any of you who may know someone using these techniques. How do you separate what you do from chiropractic manipulation? Furthermore, how do you document what you do? Thanks in advance, Ken Muller, PT, PhD Director of Outpatient Rehab Memorial Health Systems Stuart, FL
