Guest guest
Hey all, I joined a couple days ago and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm asy ou can probably see from my email and I live in Washington state. I'm 32 and totally blind. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic a week ago. I'm bless to have a wonderful dr. who has already taken extra time to answer some questions. Today or tomorrow whenever I manage to make it to the pharmacy I will begin taking metformen. And whenever the dietition gets around to calling me I'll meeting with him/her and taking diabetes education classes. Right now it feels pretty overwhelming although not quite as bad as it was the first few days. It changes moment by moment at this point. It just feels huge and I have a million questions that I can't even get in to words. Anyway, that's me or at least what feels like I very big part of me. http://www.geocities.com/mlturtle
Guest guest
Hi, . I sure remember what you are feeling. I was diagnosed about two years ago. It was not unexpected at some time, but was a shock then because I had no real symptoms. Here are two excellent books. They are very easy to read. Gretchen is not a medical person per say, but was a medical editor and then was diagnosed herself. So, she can explain things fully, but does so in a way we newbies can understand. Becker, Gretchen. Guest guest
Hi there and welcome to our group. I'm Larry and I'm also type 2. You mentioned that you would be starting on Meformin soon. Can I offer you a suggestion where that's concerned? When you pick up your prescription, make sure that the pharmacist goes over the drug's side effects with you. Nothing to be really concerned about, but intestinal issues are common with Metformin and you might want to know about them in advance. These side effects generally subside as a person's system grows accustomed to Metformin. But not always. As a member of that not always group, I thought I'd just mention it to you so that you can find out what you need to know before starting on Metformin. Again, welcome to the group. If you find that you have any questions along the way, there are a few of us type 2's around here. Larry intro Hey all, I joined a couple days ago and thought I'd introduce myself. Guest guest
Yes, it depends on the person. I had no issue with Metformin at all, but some people do. My doctor told me initially that I might have some issues, but I never did. Larry Gassman At 08:54 AM 8-19-2008, you wrote: >Hi there and welcome to our group. Guest guest
Hi Sugar, Welcome to the list! My name is Danny, and I've been a diabetic for 48 years. I live in Dunwoody, GA, and I look forward to your contributions! There are a whole passel of knowledgeable folks on this list from which we all benefit. Danny intro Hell, not sure if I've been approved, but I just wanted to drop in here to introduce myself. I am Sugar, and I have been totally blind for the past 11 years, and have had two transplants, due to diabetes complications. I hope to meet new friends here as well.
