Guest guest
Dear List, In follow-up to my original question regarding whether BCBSLA follows the same guidelines as Medicare with regard to PT aides/techs treating patients, another question has been posed by my client. He states that he was informed by his former billing company that PT aids/techs could perform group therapy and bill Medicare because group therapy did not require the skilled services of a PT or PTA. Regarding group therapy, our Local Coverage Determination Policy in Louisiana states, " Since many group procedures do not require the professional skills of a provider, coverage of this procedure will be determined on a case-by-case. " I am not having any luck finding a specific ruling on the LA Medicare (Pinnacle) website regarding group therapy performed by a PT aide/tech. Any one out there have any information they can provide regarding this matter? Thanks in advance, Vickie D.
