Guest guest
I would very much like to know if anyone can direct me to sources for regulations regarding need to have physicians sign a plan of care and goals for acute care hospital patients. It has always been my understanding that if I received a PT eval and treat order, that I must perform the evaluation, establish my plan of care and goals, and then have the physician sign approval. I have recently been told that there are no regulations governing Part A acute hospital patients for that practice. Any guidance offered would be appreciated. Guest guest
You want to read 482.56 of the conditions of participation for a hospital. Here is the link: http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_10/42cfr482_10.html You also want to read Section 409.17 under hospital insurance benefits and there you will find your answer that a physician is not required to sign and date the therapist plan of care for inpatients in the acute care setting.
