Role of a PTA in home health care for Medicare beneficieries

I would like to know if a PTA can see a patient in a home health care

setting, even though the supervising therapist is not in the same

facility. Does supervising PT has to be within a certain miles radius,

or within a certain time frame in order to be avalable in case there is

a need for him to be there?

PTA supervision requirements in home health are determined by your

state-specific licensure regulations, including the professional PT/PTA

licensure and the home health provider licensure.

The professional standard is that the PT must be available by

telecommunications. But you also must check with payer policy and your state

practice act, as they may have further limits, restrictions, or bans.
