Guest guest
Group, Is it a normal practice for a billing service provider to put a clause in a contract that you cannot leave for a certain amount of time (2 years) and even then only with a 90 day notification? Guest guest
Odilia, I have seen billing companies run the gamut from completely open ended contracts with 30 days notice--a model I myself used for many, many years...to 2 year contracts with 90 day notice as you mentioned. Most, I have found, fall somewhere in between. Usually a one year contract with either a 30, 60, or 90 day notice. The contracts should have an " out " clause though. In other words if either party defaults in some way, violates the law, or otherwise fails to meet the terms of the contract, it should be terminable. If you are looking at doing business with a billing company, and you feel good about the company itself, but not with the terms of the contract--ask if the terms are negotiable. If not, you may want to shop around a little more. I have been in the billing industry serving therapists for many years--if you would like to discuss your questions or concerns with me, just to have a sounding board, feel free to email me. Guest guest
I was wondering about TherapyRehab Plus software. I heard that it creates codes from the EMR like PT notes and does electronic billing. This sounds too good to be true. Is it? Guest guest
Hi Rick, We are billing the medicare rates for AZ. We do have private ins. and medicaid contracts. Some reimburse more, some less. Duane
Guest guest
Duane I know that AZ has many " hybrid " Medicaid programs and that might be part of your problem. That might be the cause for the lower reimbursement. Also, you might want to consider increasing your rates as most commercial payers will pay more than Medicare rates and Medicare rates were not designed with a profit margin in mind.
