Guest guest
Hey All I have an Uncle (Ricky Hall) that recently fell and broke his hip. I believe he just finished celebrating his 83rd birthday on Tuesday and cake and candles weren't enough. So he thought he would break the hip so he could get an ambulance ride with the lights, bells and whistles as well. Kidding aside, he will be undergoing surgery in the next day or two to have a couple of pins and a plate inserted into his hip. For those of you in Roanoke, VA, he is in Raonoke Memorial Hospital in room 608-if you know any therapists working there. He is a very nice man and has influenced my life tremendously. recently asked for recommendations on management books and although I suggested one in jest, this man lived out a management book in my life and I learned a great deal of how I manage from him. At any rate, after he undergoes surgery, I expect he will have a couple of days of physical and occupational therapy as an inpatient before they discharge him to a skilled or assisted living facility for a couple of more days and then discharge him to go home. For those of you in the Roanoke area, I would ask for recommendations on skilled nursing/assisted living centers in the Vinton to Westlake areas of Roanoke to Mountain Lake. Ricky and his wife Louise live out in the Westlake area, and their daughter is looking for facilities, home care and potentially outpatient rehab in the days, weeks and months ahead. I apologize that my request is so broad, but they are still gathering up information and will probably not know about post surgical care for a few more days. But since my aunt and uncle are in their 80's, I expect that he will not be discharged from the hospital directly to his home. Finally, if you are a therapist in the Richmond area and have had a chance to work with a case manager named Sue Dodd at Genex, this is their daughter/my cousin. Thank you for reviewing this email and if any of you would like to respond, I think the entire list would prefer if you would contact me directly. Also, many of you know that I am a firm believer in Christ and in the power of prayer. If you have a minute and offer up a prayer for my aunt and uncle I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you, Jim <///><
