Guest guest
We offer a pool therapy program in our clinic and the question has been asked " do we allow catheters in the pool " . Currently, we don't, however, I have heard that some programs in our state will allow them. I wanted to see if other programs do and if so, is there a protocol? Thank you. Guest guest
We do allow foleys but not condom caths ( they tend to come loose and float off). We empty the bag before the patient enters the pool. I usually add a little extra strapping to keep tubing in place. Never had a problem with them. We also allow Peg tubes ( covered with OPsite) in. Our infection control folks we Ok with this and helped develop our procedures. We have our own OP pool, and are not using a community pool like a " Y " - they may have other guidelines.
