Guest guest
Hi nne, Welcome to blind diabetes. My name is Nan and I live in Michigan. My husband has had diabetes for twenty years. I am legally blind due to macular for eight years. I was born and raised in Fresno California. Where in California are you living? Nan intro Hell, not sure if I've been approved, but I just wanted to drop in here to introduce myself. I am Sugar, and I have been totally blind for the past 11 years, and have had two transplants, due to diabetes complications. I hope to meet new friends here as well. Guest guest
Good for you with that weight loss. That will help a lot with reduction ininsulin needs. Also getting insulin so early in your diagnosis may help your body with continuing to produce insulin of its own. Re: intro Hi Junior, We've had discussions, recently, about the benefits of t2's (type 2 diabetics) taking insulin along with their oral medication. You are probably doing the right thing based on the majority of what everybody was saying. I happen to be a t1, having been diagnosed at age 11 over 41 years ago. The 40 units of long lasting insulin sounds like a lot, but I don't know what the insulin is, nor am I well versed enough about those diabetics who take oral medication and insulin. If you need assistance or feed-back concerning food and anything related to maintaining your diabetes, just ask away. Dave Victim of a crime? I live in northwest Florida about 50 miles west of Tallahassee. I have been totally blind since I was 12 years old. My blindness is not connected to diabetes. I found out on June the 4th that I was diabetic. I take metformin 1000 mgs in the morning and another 1000 mgs at night. Plus 40 units of a long lasting insulin. When I learn how to spell it then I can forward that info. I am a 911 communications supervisor with the local sheriffs office. And I am a amateur radio operator. Have a nice day. Guest guest
Welcome Steve-and congrats on being cancer freee for al those years. You will get lots of helpful hints here, so just ask any questions you have. I have been diabetic for 64 years (type 1) and teacha diabetic eduction class, so please ask. We have many vey helpful people here. intro Hi, I'm new to the list, new to being diabetic and wanted to introduce myself. I've been totally blind since March 1994 as a result of a rare form of limphomia making the lining of my brain swell and damaged the optic nerves. Cancer free for 13 years now. I was just diagnosed within the past week or two as having diabetes. I was having problems we thought were side effects of another medecine but when my wife realized I was going to the little boys room allot and also dehydrated, she checked my sugar and it was around 380. She's been diabetic for a few years now and I'm glad she saw the signs. We went to the doctor and my a1c was 11. So new to this and looking forward to learning all I can. So far I'm on metformin once a day, eating better, exercising, and using this to finally give myself a kick in the rear to lose some weight. Taking it one day at a time though.
