Advertising for therapists - Advice

Group(s),

I am emailing to get feedback on the best avenue for hiring new staff in

home health. We need a full-time PT and do not feel that this would be a

position that we want to fill with a traveling therapist or a new graduate.

I am planning to advertise in GeriNotes and am looking into the Journal of

Geriatric Physical Therapy.

If anyone is willing to/able to advise specifically about home health, I

would appreciate your reply.

1) Should I consider advertising in the HH SIG journal?

2) What other mechanisms (print advertisement, placement companies) might

you advise?

Thank you for your replies in advance.

Mike:

You have three basic options:

1. Advertise locally, informally through personal contacts, and

formally with an ad in your local paper. Local candidates will be the

easiest to vet for potential hiring.

2. Place an ad with the APTA Home Health Section (there is no HH

SIG).

3. Contact a reputable staffing agency.

The first option is the best, with the other two to be considered if you

have no success.
