Guest guest
For Immediate Release FLORIDA READING & VISION CENTER MOVES NEW STORE INTO The Lighthouse of Broward 650 North s Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311 • 954.525-5311 OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING SET FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17th Convenience and selection important to the blind/visually impaired community, too. Joyce loved her time at The Lighthouse of Broward. After she finished her weekly vision rehabilitation class there, a family member would drive her down the street to Florida Reading & Vision Center to help her pick out an assistive device which would help her enjoy her life more fully with her vision impairment. Now, Florida Reading & Vision Center is moving their new store into the Lighthouse of Broward. “Convenience and selection is as important in the blind/visually impaired community as it is to sighted people,†says Lesa Kretschmer, owner of Florida Reading & Vision Center. “In fact, maybe even more so because transportation is an issue when you have a vision challenge. When you can’t drive yourself to a destination, or you have to find a ride, you want to make the most of your time. Moving into the Lighthouse of Broward maximizes convenience. It’s one-stop shopping and learning for the visually impaired.†“All of us at the Lighthouse of Broward are delighted to be partnering with Florida Reading and Vision Center,†says Lighthouse of Broward Executive Director, Elly du Pre’ DPA. “Now anyone can visit the store, find out about the low vision clinic and learn about Lighthouse training in using any remaining vision and living independently all at the same time.†Lesa has been in the blind/low vision assistive technology business for more than 15 years. Her Florida Reading & Vision Center store, open for five of those years, provides assistive technology for blind and low vision people of all ages. They include talking watches, clocks and scales; magnifiers, lamps and lighting, check writing signature guides; large print bingo cards and scrabble; and high-tech electronic products such as the KNFB mobile reader; CCTV-video magnifying machines, and Trekker Breeze Talking GPS. They offer all manufacturers and help provide informed choices for their customers. “Everyone can try before they buy,†says Lesa. “We also visit our clients in their home to make sure whatever they’ve chosen is a perfect fit for them because we evaluate their progress.†# # # For more information, please contact: Ren’ee Rentmeester, ____________________________________ New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination.
