Guest guest
Dear Colleagues- Does anyone have a visitation policy that permits overnight rooming in for family members of patients on adult inpatient rehabilitation? If you do, could you share your guidelines, including the number of individuals, circumstances etc. Do you have special bathroom and shower facilites for those family members or do you permit the family to use the same facilities as the patient? We are experiencing increasing expectations from our families with loved ones on our TBI unit especially to permit this. When we have permitted this, it has been very disruptive to the function of the unit and sometimes the patient. We have traditionally permitted families to room in when they are learning evening care but they are expecting much more. We are in the process of converting our 3 semi-private rooms into " Family Suites " and would like to get some feedback before taking the plunge. Thanks for you ideas.
