Guest guest
Though we are a CAH facility, in a rural setting, we have ambitious orthopedists. They keep our inpatient hopping. One of the surgery days is Friday. We had to change our " olden days " OP mind set to provide a comparable IP service 7 days per week. We had to answer the question, " If my parent, or grandparent had surgery on Friday, what should our service look like compared to having surgery on Tuesday? " We see our IPs on weekends like every other day, 2x/day for PT. In order to staff accordingly, we were able to find PTs from nearby hospitals as " contracted staff " minimizing the impact on our IP and/or OP staff. Our weekend staff never seems to put in a full 8 hours and Sundays are usually less than 6 hours of work. Dan , PT PT Manager Vernon Memorial Hospital Viroqua, WI 54665 dnelson@...
