Guest guest
My son had a convultion today (3rd chelation day), 30 minutes after he had taken DMSA+ALA (he was already feverish at the time we gave DMSA+ALA). His eyes got opened like frozen and he stayed unconsiously and without breathing for some minutes. It was the first convultion in life and he is 4 years old. In the past he had high level fever without problems. It´s his third round with DMSA + ALA, after four rounds of DMSA only. He had been tolerating well chelators, and the only side effect was insomnia caused by ALA. He has 33 lbs and used to take 5mg DMSA and 5mg ALA, 3 / 4 hours protocol, 3 days on and at least 5 days off. He is chemically sensitive (doesn´t tolerate many foods and any oral vitamin supplement). Yesterday morning we increased a bit his dosage to 7.5mg ALA and 7.5mg DMSA, without any side effects. On the other hand, he has been having catarrh for the last 2 weeks, but there was no other symptom of disease. His fever started today, and his temperature was 37.5 ºC (a bit elevated) at 8:00 AM, but we didn´t give any drug as it seemed not high enough. Then, we gave DMSA+ ALA at 10:00 AM and he had the convultion at 10:30 AM. We think his fever worsened during this period because he was hotter during convultion. We went to hospital and now he is OK, his fever is controled by a drug that is given every 4 hours (after a while fever increases and then we give the drug). We stopped chelation. Would you know what caused the convultion? What should we do now? Any biomedical assessment? Shall we change something in chelation? Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 3 months FREE*. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail & xAPID=42 & PS=47575 & PI=7324 & DI=7474 & SU\ = http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/getmsg & HL=1216hotmailtaglines_advancedjmf_3mf
Guest guest
Chelation causes a lot of oxidative stress (which depletes essential fatty acids in the brain and directly causes convulsions as well as indirectly through lowering EFA levels). You really need to use antioxidants while chelating. One of the MD's up this way thought she was doing " My " protocol when she prescribed chelation but didn't Rx any antioxidants. Essentially all her patients got worse on it. Once they got put on antioxidants they all did better and tolerated chelation well. 3-4 hour use of ALA and DMSA isn't the ONLY thing to " my " chelation protocol. It is simply the most often discussed thing. After all, DAN! myself and most other people with a protocol all agree on the need to use antioxidants so there isn't much need to discuss it.
