Although they can do various operations, most orthopedic doctors seem to

have one specialty. My own Orthopedic doctor is known for hip operations. He

told me out flat that he could not do the ankle fusion. He sent me to one who

specializes in feet and ankles. To be honest with you I would much rather

have a doctor that specializes in feet/ankles in my case. They operate on

them day after day, who would know them better.

Hi Carolyn and all, Yes, I have a doctor for just about every body part: A

GP, a gyn, a hand surgeon, an ortho, a podiatrist, a neurologist, and a

surgeon that took my gall bladder out. When ever I have anything done, at

least 3 doctors have to have a copy of whats going on and where. I have

wonderful insurance, but the paper work, I could do without. The only thing

that worries my is my allergies, and making sure my " 100 " doctors have them

all charted. I do give/send all of my doctors everything I can find about

CMT, mostly from this support group, and I think I'm in better hands than

ever before. I think that all of us should " educate " our doctors about CMT to

make it easier for us and our kids. Kindness and compassion to all, Michele
