Guest guest
Is it correct to say the cost of bandages is not covered by Medicare? If I'm not mistaken, Medicare states the cost of bandages is covered in reimbursement for other services related to treating lymphedema. The cost for bandages and garments were high and the hospital had to write off those costs because Medicare and some private insurance companies did not cover those items. I learned real quick that if I wanted to keep this program going I would have to make the patient responsible. That said, at the initial examination I would completely educate the patient on all aspects of their condition, including the cost of required products, such as multilayer bandages. I gave the patients a few vendors to call so that they can acquire the products prior to the first treatment session. If
