Guest guest
Dear PT Manager, We currently rely of intercom paging to notify our therapsits when their patient arrives. We are in a 5000 s.f. facility and the gym can get loud at times, causing us to miss the page. I am curious to know what other clinics have found to be effective. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Hi Joe, I've worked in outpatient facilities that use a wide variety of methods to inform therapists of patient arrivals, and the best, in my opinion, is the Vocera system. It's essentially a hands-free phone worn around the neck. It's not cheap, but it's reliable, and provides additional benefits as a phone. ________________________________ From: PTManager [mailto:PTManager ] On Behalf Of Joe Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2012 4:23 PM To: PTManager Subject: Patient arrival notification Dear PT Manager, We currently rely of intercom paging to notify our therapsits when their patient arrives. Guest guest
Joe, We have used both Vocera and the individual digital pagers. Therapists prefer the individual pagers-we have a nice computer system the front desk can put the info for the PT into the system and the therapist knows about cancellations, if a patient has arrived but filling out paperwork, if they need to call a patient, etc..etc.. Guest guest
Thanks for all the input on this. As far as the cell phones I prefer to not have mine on me since I feel it says to the patient that I may be interrupted at any time. But I am probably old fashioned in my thinking. Guest guest
I ABSOLUTELY agree with ! I do not allow phones in the clinic. If there is an emergency families can call the " old fashion " landline and the receptionist and " get ahold " of them to answer the phone. Staff must leave phones in their desks. We have our patients turn off their phones out of courtesy for us and our time. Their time is just as precious as ours. Staff can check between patients for messages. We are professionals and need to convey that there is nothing else more important than that patient. Best regards Pamela J.
