Guest guest
Hello Group, Just need some confirmation and maybe some more direction to some black and white back up. No matter what insurance you are talking, if you are seeing 2 patients at one time, you cannot (or should not I will say) bill them each individually for the full 4 units they are there (supposing 1 hour tx). Does not matter if its one MC and one BC or 2 MC or 2 WC, if you are seeing 2 patients at the same time, each of them would get one group code for their overlapped time, correct? We seem to be having some issues with that and any direction to black and white info would be helpful. Have a great weekend, Damon C. Guest guest
CPT codes are created by the American Medical Association (AMA) and are used by the vast majority of insurance companies in the United States to reimburse for services provided by many different suppliers and providers, including for outpatient therapy services. The definition of the CPT codes apply to all insurance companies that use the CPT codes developed by the AMA to reimburse for outpatient therapy services. You can double book, triple book, quadruple book patients on the hour (not talking good patient care here, just proving a point) and have it be perfectly legal in terms of billing as long as you bill correctly for the time you spent with the patients one-on-one, in a group setting, or providing supervised modalities. It's not how long the patient's are in your practice that determines the billing, it's how much time you spend with them.
