Guest guest
Last week we had our Joint Commission survey and a question that came up was how often is the equipment cleaned? I responded that it is cleaned after each patient use. The follow up question was then, how do you know it has been cleaned?/How does a patient know it has been cleaned? I honestly did not have a good answer for that. For things that need to be " put away " , such as weights or smaller pieces of equipment, they get cleaned before being put away. For things such as the parallel bars, treadmills, bikes and other large pieces of equipment that don't get " put away " how do other facilities indicate that it has in fact been cleaned? Should everything be cleaned in the presence of the patient before it is used? I can't imagine somehow " labeling " every piece of equipment once it is cleaned. I welcome any suggestions the group may have for addressing this issue. Thank You!
