Hi,

Ingenix and others have a laminated one page card with the top physical

therapy ICD-9 codes on it for sale, called the " Express Reference Coding

Card-Physical Therapy " . It is less than $20.00. Maybe someone will allow

you to copy theirs but if not it is worth buying if you need a quick

reference.

Personally, I don't recommend cheat sheets be the only or most used

reference because it leads to miscoding too often. It makes it too easy for

therapists to fall into ruts and code things in too many narrow ICD-9 groups

as listed on the coding card. It is better for therapists to learn the

codes through the full ICD-9 and learn to code correctly. Becomes

especially important with Medicare especially if they bring back the cap

exceptions. I understand that cost is a big factor so the other piece is

good supervision and management of therapist coding to make sure they are

coding ICD -9 codes correctly.

Does anyone have a good ICD-9 " cheat sheet " that I can give my

therapists so that they can code the diagnosis themselves upon

evaluation?

If so please email me directly.

Thanks!
