Guest guest
Hi, I know there is much debate on this but the official position(from the APTA Coding and Reimbursement Course) is that it is billed as an unlisted modality or unlisted procedure. Then it depends on the insurer as to whether they will pay. There is no specific code for dry needling. To bill it any other way is considered fraudulent although it is common practice to capture the time of the dry needling in with other codes especially manual therapy. This does not necessarily represent my opinion; just citing one very important official position. M Howell, PT, MPT IPTA Payment Specialist Meridian, ID thowell@...
