Guest guest
Ecological Forulas makes a vitamin c from tapioca. We had the same problem with the vitamin c and corn. Re: Calming supps? Rage and Aggression were a large part of our lives for 3 years. He got kicked out of school. Things got a lot worse than I will put in writing. Now, he is laughing and singing and dancing. I had to remove every single supplement and add them back one at a time waiting 4 -5 days in between to see the effects. If I did not find the supplement to be noticeably calming, I did not continue it. After I had the groups of supps that I know are calming, then I added more things, and if they did not cause rage I kept them. This took a few months. Things that CALM my 15 yo 143 lb child: Taurine 4x/day, sometimes more. 3000mg (MOST calming supp we have) Biotin 4x/day, sometimes more. 30mg Candidase 5x/day, sometimes more. 2 pills L-Glutamine 4x/day, often more, on an EMPTY stomach. 2000mg Adrenal Cortex with food 3x/day. 66mg with plans to increase every week until we reach up to 250mg. Digestive Enzymes with food, every time he eats. Enemas for constipation. Daily use for 5 days at first. Then down to once a week. Now hardly ever. Sounds very invasive, surprisingly helpful. The first time I gave one I became injured. After that he allowed them - he KNOWS they make him feel better. Senna 3x/day. 2 pills Increased oil in the diet. REMOVAL OF: Gaba - causes rage. There is a good article on this and I will try to find it and post it. About 1/2 the kids do well on Gaba, the rest do horribly. Do not assume that this is calming for your child. Virastop - causes irritability. Magnesium Citrate - causes rage. The constipation was so bad that this was making things worse, not better. Miralax - causes aggression. Vitamin C - causes rage * Vitamin E - causes rage * Vitamin D - causes rage * * My boy CAN take C, E, D in his LIQUID MULTI vitamin but he cannot tolerate the capsules. I have learned this week that the C CAPSULE is corn based, even though the bottle states "no added corn". Likely the D and E are also. I am waiting for another response from the manufacturer. In the meantime, I have doubled his liquid vitamins and am giving them 4x/day. This triples the amount he was getting previously, and he remains calm. NOTE, for my child: Head Banging = Constipation. Note: We are also on AC chelation. We completed round 8. After 13 years of biomed this is the BEST thing we have done. We follow the every 3 hours by the clock rule every other weekend. It is bringing my child back to me. Previously I tried DAN approach to chelation - it made him MUCH worse. It seemed to help in the beginning but then the rage and aggression began. Behavior completely deteriorated, scripting became much worse, bad story continues... I do NOT recommend it. Deb > > I need some ideas for calming supplements for my 6 yr-old son. Alcohols Dimethylvinylcarbinol may alleviate Anxiety (due it sedating the CNS). Amino Acids 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) may alleviate Anxiety. Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may reduce Anxiety. Arginine (combined with Lysine) may reduce Stress-induced Anxiety. Anxiety may be caused by Histidine imbalances. Lysine (combined with Arginine) may reduce Stress-induced Anxiety. Phenylalanine may alleviate some cases of Anxiety. Taurine may alleviate Anxiety (by sedating the Central Nervous System). Theanine may be useful for the treatment of Anxiety (due to its ability to stimulate the generation of (relaxing) Alpha Waves in the Brain). Threonine may alleviate Anxiety. Tryptophan may alleviate Anxiety. Tyrosine may alleviate Anxiety. Animal-Derived Supplements Stabilium may alleviate Anxiety - the effect of Stabilium is described as being mild. long-term and subjectively subtle (compared to the powerful but short-term effects of Benzodiazepines). Enzymes Pyruvate Dehydrogenase may help to prevent Anxiety (by inhibiting the conversion of Pyruvic Acid to Lactic Acid). Hormones DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) may alleviate Anxiety. Supplemental Melatonin often may alleviate Anxiety (due to its ability to bind to Benzodiazepine Receptors). Supplemental Pregnenolone may be useful for the treatment of Anxiety. Lipids Phosphatidylserine may alleviate Anxiety. Minerals Anxiety may occur as a result of Calcium deficiency. Calcium may help to prevent Anxiety by lowering elevated Lactic Acid levels. Anxiety may occur as a result of Iron deficiency. Anxiety patients are often deficient in Magnesium and supplemental Magnesium (400 - 900 mg per day) may alleviate some cases of Anxiety. Anxiety may occur as a result of Potassium deficiency. Anxiety may occur as a result of Selenium deficiency and supplemental Selenium may reduce Anxiety in such patients. Neurotransmitters Gamma Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) prevents Anxiety messages from reaching the motor centers of the Brain by filling the Benzodiazepine Receptors within the Brain - Vitamin B3 and Inositol are essential cofactors for this process. Low levels of Histamine may cause Anxiety. Anxiety may occur as a result of insufficient production of Serotonin. Polyphenols Apigenin may alleviate Anxiety (by binding to and activating Benzodiazepine Receptors). Chrysin binds to and activates Benzodiazepine Receptors - this activation of Benzodiazepine Receptors may help to alleviate Anxiety. Ferulic Acid may alleviate Anxiety. Gamma Oryzanol may alleviate Anxiety. Smart Drugs Centrophenoxine may alleviate Anxiety. Dilantin may reduce Anxiety. Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) may alleviate Anxiety. Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB) may alleviate Anxiety (by enhancing the function of Gamma Aminobutyric Acid). Gerovital (GH-3) may alleviate Anxiety (especially in the elderly). Nimodipine may alleviate Anxiety. Ondansetron may alleviate Anxiety (by antagonizing the 5-HT3 Receptors within the Brain, facilitating the release of Acetylcholine and preventing excessive Serotonin activity). Vitamins Folic Acid (especially when administered concurrently with Vitamin B12) may alleviate Anxiety. Inositol may alleviate Anxiety (by enhancing the ability of GABA to bind to the Benzodiazepine Receptors in the Brain). Vitamin B1 may alleviate many cases of Anxiety (by activating the Pyruvate Dehydrogenase enzyme, thereby inhibiting the conversion of Pyruvic Acid to Lactic Acid - Lactic Acid is an underlying cause of Anxiety). The Niacinamide form of Vitamin B3 (1,000 - 6,000 mg per day) may alleviate Anxiety (by enhancing the ability of GABA to bind to the Benzodiazepine Receptors within the Brain). Vitamin B6 may alleviate Anxiety. Vitamin B12 (administered concurrently with Folic Acid) may alleviate Anxiety. Anxiety may increase the body's requirements for Vitamin C. These Foods/Herbs may Alleviate Anxiety Aromatic Oils Neroli Oil (vapors inhaled via Aromatherapy) may alleviate Anxiety. Fungi (Mushrooms) Reishi Mushrooms may alleviate Anxiety.
