Guest guest
....so soy itself is probably not the culprit? The GMO destroys what should be a good thing? figures. On that note: I remember reading an article quite a while ago about the chemicals found in milk containers and in studies, the majority of people tested showed sensitivites/reactions to it. It really makes me wonder how many people actually have a problem with the milk itself and how often it's simply the container. Not that it matters much as cow's milk was intended for cows, after all. Just a thought. Same with strawberries...how often is the real culprit the tons of pesticides dumped on them? My guess would be: very often. Corn is not really a big deal here as he can take it or leave it. It's the damn syrup in juices and such. What a pain in the ass....but I'm singing to the choir...... lol. Sometimes I wonder why I ever quit smoking. Seems like the crap we eat is just as bad, if not worse, than what I was inhaling. It's all the same.....I could never afford a pack of smokes and a loaf of Udi's bread. lol To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Tue, January 4, 2011 12:26:22 PMSubject: High Fructose Corn Syrup/Mercury/GMO's Etc. Hi. In one of the posts (bombardment of questions, I think) mentions High Fructose Corn Syrup. It contains mercury, and it also can contain GMO corn, which is just bad. I think it was Toni that suggested "organic" if you are going to do corn, and I couldn't agree more. Here's an article.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/26/AR2009012601831.htmlSoy is another food gone awry due to GMO's, pesticides, etc. And it seems to be in EVERYTHING (processed or prepacked)http://www.naturalnews.com/027358_soy_food_GMO.htmlhttp://www.seedsofdeception.com/Public/AboutGeneticallyModifiedFoods/index.cfmThat being said, soy should be organic, fermented/sprouted to be eaten. It's difficult and almost impossible to find that.
Guest guest
I started to feel the same way about quitting smoking after I realized how much crap is in our foods. But like you I can't afford organic and cigarettes, lol. Guest guest
One of the benefits of just looking for " organic " is not having to worry about HFCS!Tammy, one of the problems with cow's milk is that the cows are given antibiotics and the milk is pastuerized, so that anything that was good living in the milk's gut or passed into the milk is killed (along with the bad) So the things naturally living in the cow's milk that would be helping digest the proteins have been wiped out. It makes me wonder, back in the day when milk was not pastuerized, what happened? Were people dying from drinking milk, becoming sick or ???  ....so soy itself is probably not the culprit? The GMO destroys what should be a good thing? figures. Guest guest
It's been 13 years, and I still miss smoking. I miss the 8 minutes of quiet due to being alone because everyone finds this habit so disgusting...can someone say SMOKE BREAK! I think, well hell, if I am too too old, and wayyy too healthy, I'll pick it up again, if I can afford it! I switched smoking to latte's...that got expensive too. laura Speaking of Latte's Here is a great recipe I made up to replace my Starbuck's latte. I like a milky coffee (without milk of course!) -- It costs about a dollar to make if that... 10 oz of 'vanilla' milk heated(or milk substitute, like rice, almond, hemp, coconut)-- if you are using reg milk, add 1/4 tsp of vanilla 1 tsp of instant organic coffee 1 tsp of cocoa/sugar mixture OR 1/2 tsp of cocoa, and 1/2 tsp of sugar (I use Mount Hagen Freeze Dried Organic Decaf Instant coffee, I found it at Krogers for you Southie's) I used vanilla Rice (it's good), I've used vanilla Almond (awesome!) and my sister in law used coconut milk and said it was super yummy. (She's in NY, and used some instant coffee and said it was really good) > > I started to feel the same way about quitting smoking after I realized how much > crap is in our foods.
