Can you all help me with a LOP ,letter of protection situation? I never

take LOP , but a referral from a friend so I did. Have signed lop and 10

treatments into treatment pt fired atty and is switching to another, sent

him new lop and have not heard from pt or new attny since they said they

would sign it and return it. If I never hear from either, what are my

options?

Who pays bill? This is why I have stayed away from these.. guess my LOP

should have this situation spelled out? Does anyone have a good LOP they

like and use? Any advice would be appreciated

I would not hesitate with this one. I would print a patient statement out and

immediately send the bill to the patient with a copy to their attorney demanding

payment in full. I would send an explanation letter stating that you provided a

service in good faith and because they have either neglected to sign the letter

or refused to due so, you expect payment (or a payment plan) to commence

immediately. If they want to reconsider and sign the LOP, you can suspend

collections at this time. If that gets no response, I would send a demand

letter and then follow through with a collection agency if need be. This may

sound harsh, but you did the work, you should get paid and the bottom line

is-the liability for the claim should not be your responsibility.
