Guest guest
It can't hurt. I have heard chamomile teas do have a calming effect. And I think it is caffeine free also, which is good when your trying to sleep. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
For adults it is used to relax - for a 4 year old - I don't know - a herbalist would be the one to ask. Getting quality sleep I am support/caretaker to a great partner, husband, and friend so I have a very real understanding of at least one member of the community. We are very much interested in alternative or more traditional practices to enhance or compliment health, function, and quality of life. So, I would like to put forth a question: Does anybody have any understanding or experience with drinking chamomile tea to ease an upset stomach and enhance sleep quality?A friend indicated she uses chamomile tea to soothe her four-month-old's stomach before bedtime, any thoughts or suggestions?Linz Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
I reread it - a 4 month old baby - not a good idea - I did email my herbalist and will post the reply Re: Getting quality sleep Just a couple additional things about chamomile. It is considered a part of the ragweed family so if you have allergies probably not a good option. Also, it can effect certain blood thinning drugs. So if you take blood thinners its probably best to check with your doc. Jolie No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG. Guest guest
hi linz,i am from germany, and in our village we used to pick chamomile flowers, dry them, and make and drink tea from them. it does soothe anyone's stomach and is very good and delicious to drink just about any time. it is mild and completely harmless for babies, too.annette wrote: I am support/caretaker to a great partner, husband, and friend so I have a very real understanding of at least one member of the community. We are very much interested in alternative or more traditional practices to enhance or compliment health, function, and quality of life. Guest guest
my herbalist said chamomile and peppermint are okay for adults - peppermint tea is also good to clear out sinus' - for babies the dosage is tricky Re: Getting quality sleep hi linz,i am from germany, and in our village we used to pick chamomile flowers, dry them, and make and drink tea from them. it does soothe anyone's stomach and is very good and delicious to drink just about any time. it is mild and completely harmless for babies, too.annette <lcebusiness> wrote: I am support/caretaker to a great partner, husband, and friend so I have a very real understanding of at least one member of the community. We are very much interested in alternative or more traditional practices to enhance or compliment health, function, and quality of life. Guest guest
Hi Linz, ) Chamomile is a great choice! This is one of several teas I mixed while pregnant to help ease the pg queasies. It's great for stomach upset and pain, as I understand from others. It also has wonderful calming properties and can help with sleep. Do you use loose leaf tea? In grocery stores which sell the bags of spices, Chamomile can be found (Manzanilla is the usual label here...), though fresh is always best. If you don't already... if you have a Natural/Herbal/Health store near you, they should have it in bulk and you can get as much or as little as you like. ) There are other things along these lines which might help, too. Welcome aboard, btw! ) I'm Challis... daughter of Sharon, our list's loving leader. She has MS. I don't have a diagnosis yet, though I keep hoping for answers. lol Hugs, Challis Getting quality sleep I am support/caretaker to a great partner, husband, and friend so I have a very real understanding of at least one member of the community. We are very much interested in alternative or more traditional practices to enhance or compliment health, function, and quality of life. Guest guest
I didn't know about chamomile's effect on stomach problems. Thanks for the info! My stomach and I don't see eye to eye all that often... I think at least a cup of coffee a day is not too much to ask - and my stomach seem to think that even having food is to push the line a bit... (It's hereditary - I come from a long line of cranky stomachs that gets upset easily...). But, thanks to this info, I picked up some chamomile tea last time I was at the supermarket, and I'm gonna try and make it a habit to have a cup every night. To be honest - I am not wild about the taste... But it's definitely drinkable - and if it can work as a peace offering to my stomach things will be a lot easier... love /Reb > > Hi Linz, ) > > Chamomile is a great choice!
