Guest guest
I can't answer the other stuff (w/valtrex) we used OLE with good results. (We also used Diflucan - also w/good results) The B12 - you can use the Revitapops (we use these) and it does a good job. They are a little on the expensive side, but getting it in him this route, is REALLY easy. I have also used the B12 sublinquals and again with good results. (we have done diet for about a year and a half) I have used this: (1 mg of b12 (methyl form) includes b6, folic acid and biotin.) http://www.wonderlabs.com/itemleft.php?itemnum=3292 and for 250 tabs @$19.99 - it's pretty good. this is just methycobalamin http://www.wonderlabs.com/itemleft.php?itemnum=9842 and for 120 tabs @20.99 at 5mg - it's also good price. and what I have found is that if he is having sleep disturbance - get the one without B6. But if he's not, get the one with B6. I have used both on and off, with both my brother and my son. (and myself!) > > My son is on diflucan(2 weeks) and valtrex(1 week) currently, with no physical signs of die-off, but with heavy stimming and minor sleep-disruption. 6 yrs previuosly, he was on diflucan for 2 weeks, with very good results. We also saw good improvement when he was on diflucan alone in the first week, and deterioration when valtrex was introduced. > It's all a bit confusing for me: does it indicate that we should only treat him with the diflucan? > Regarding the OLE, since it is basically anti viral in property, do I give it along with valtrex, or should I wait for the valtrex to run it's course the next few months, then replace the valtrx with OLE? > I've got the B12 spray, which he absolutely hates! Can the tablet form one be dissolved in juice along with the OLE? > Desperately need guidance, folks... > Stan >
Guest guest
Sounds to me like he is going to do well on valtrex. My kids had a bad die-off the first time we did valtrex. It lasted well over 60 days; fevers, increased stimming, increase in autistic behavior. You need to keep the diflucan (or other anti-fungal) on board while doing valtrex. Valtrex is a long term treatment. Give it 3-6 months, then decide if your child is benefitting from it. After 60 days, my kids became much calmer, happier, and stimming decreased. It was subtle but looking back at pics, I could definitely see the difference. Language and understanding increased. I would not give OLE instead. Give the valtrex a chance. Also, I give my kids B-12 injections along with Folapro. If I don't give the Folapro, they get hyper/aggressive. If that won't work, try the revitapops. Guest guest
Heavy stimming is probably die off. You have a tough road but it sounds like its all working. 6 months minimum for valtrex and I'd probably wait to throw in OLE as you may get some crazy die off. I don't know what form of b-12 you're using but my daughter cant handle methyl b-12 but seems to do well on hydoxy b-12 drops. I'd make sure you have a good probiotic in there somewhere. Good luck! > > My son is on diflucan(2 weeks) and valtrex(1 week) currently, with no physical signs of die-off, but with heavy stimming and minor sleep-disruption. 6 yrs previuosly, he was on diflucan for 2 weeks, with very good results. Guest guest
You don't do antivirals for a few months. It's a long term therapy. You can add it in addition to but only after you've settled down with the Valtrex. I would give it at least a month or two. Heavy stimming and sleep disruption *is* die off. Things tend to get a little worse before they get better when you start antivirals. Sometimes you'll see gains through the die off and sometimes you don't see gains until die off is over. And for some, that can take a while.Right now, my suggestion is patience. As for the B12, yes, you can oral, liquid drops would be easier than crushing a pill, though. Are you using MethylMate? If so, you can just use the originial dropper it came with. Or you can just buy oral drops if you don't. Or you can buy the lollipops. Or you can get it compounded into a TD cream. You have lots of options, really.
