Did they explain the risk of holding card (credit and identity theft) info

along with Security policies, procedures, formats, etc. to implement this

type of process? Most that do this process have management software that

stores encrypted private info. Some practice software may offer this

feature.???

We try to offer Care Credit as an option with zero interest for a period of

time. Unfortunately our experience has been that people who cannot afford

to pay at time of service by cash, check or c.c. generally do not qualify

for another form of credit.

I recently attended a seminar and came away with a number of collections

ideas that are currently implemented by other industries such as hotels, car

rental companies, orthodontic and cosmetic dentistry clinics, and veterinary

clinics. One idea was to require all customers to provide a major credit

card to be kept on file upon arriving. Any unpaid balances would be

automatically charged to the credit card. Do any of you require your

patients to provide a major credit card to be kept on file for unpaid

balances (e.g. co-insurance)? If so, would you mind contacting me directly

at sthomas@... <mailto:sthomas%40hamiltonpt.org> ?

Thank you,

Thank you for your reply Mark.  You are right, there are specific measures

which must be implemented to ensure compliance with the Federal and State

specific laws including the Red Flag Rules.  But, in reality compliance is not

as complicated or burdensome as we may think.

We too offer CareCredit to those who wish to finance their care (e.g. cash

paying patients), but as you have stated some folks don't qualify.

What do you do in those situations?
