Guest guest
Hi all: I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the acue check and the voice mate? It sounds like it might be a while before the prodigy is aproved in Canada, and I can get the voicemate along with the strips and the acue check meter here in Canada now. I am not willing to go back to getting a sighted person to do my blood sugars all of the time now after being independant by using the one touch profile for so long. I can still get the strips for the one touch until the eighth or until the drugstore runs out which is good. I would like to know about how easy the acue check is to use and things like, can you keep record of your averages, your insulin and all that? What is the price of the voicemate? Anything you can tell me would be great! Is it easy to get the blood on to the correct place on the strip? To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician. Love and hugs, and the furry ones. Guest guest
Hello , The Voicemate is no longer being manufactured. I imagine they will still support the Voicemate, but I don't know for how long. This unit is actually made up of 2 components: The Voice component which is pretty large, and an Accucheck Advantage meter, which is compact. This particular meter is however not the standard Accuchek Advantage for some reason. It is inserted or plugged into the top of the Voice part. It uses Comfort Strip strips, and they are actually pretty accurate, and pretty easy to use. They require more blood than the newest generation of meters, including the Prodigy Voice, which we talk so much about. These strips are more expensive than the prodigy strips, and you need to change the code key with each new bottle of strips. All of the meter's settings are accessible, since this unit was made especially for the blind and vi. You can play a history of readings, which is good, and I think you might be able to find some software for the meter, but that's not a sure thing. My doctor's office used to be able to download the readings from the Acchuck Advantage meter. Dave God doesn't hate sinners, just sin! about acuecheck and voicemate. Guest guest
I have used the acucheck voice mate for 3 years and still some as I am switching to the prodigy. They are still sending replacements, or have with me quite recently, when the meter was having a lot of different errors. But they will talk with you and help you straighten out problems. My voicemate does take a long time sometimes, as it needs a lot of blood, and if I don't have it it just sits there. Sometimes I don't get a reading at all, but that might be just me. I still think it has a lot of merit. It ismuch larger than the prodigy, but not so large you can't take it with you somewhere, not in a purse or pocket. I don't know about software, but have never really been looking for that. , or anyone, you can ask any questions you have about the metere, I may or not know. I'll add that I am very pleased with the prodigy. Vicki A prudent man gives thought to his steps. Proverbs 14:15 about acuecheck and voicemate. Guest guest
Hi Dave: Thanks a lot. Oh this is so frustrating. Maybe they still have one in stalk or something. My farmasist gave me the toll free number to call so I will do that tomorrow. Since I would have to get the prodigy strips either on line or order somehow from the States, my social services would not cover it. It would put a huge strain on an already tight budget. I'll just have to see I guess. Grow'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'w'wowllllll! To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician. Love and hugs, and the furry ones. about acuecheck and voicemate.
