Guest guest
Mark, How is Xylene purged from the body? Michele
Guest guest
Dana, The original thought was that xylene left the body quickly but it turns out not to be the case. There are documented cases where people have been away from the supposed exposure for 12 years and still had high levels. Xylene has an affinity for adipose tissue where it will stay until purged. Mark Quite a while ago I did a search for someone who had been prescribed Thorne Solvent Remover for Xylene issues. I can find the info again if you want, just send me an email. Anyway, as I remember it, xylene *should* leave the body in less than 24 hours, so if your child has a high level, it means that there is a continuing exposure. This person stopped the Solvent Remover and her child improved. She also worked on finding the source of the xylene, but it was the Solvent Remover which was causing most of the problems. I don't remember more than that tho. Dana =======================================================
Guest guest
Moria, I don't mind going over it as it is something that we will hear a lot more about in the coming months and years (similar to the mercury issue). The best test that I know of for xylene is a urine organic acid test by MetaMetrix. As far as I know, no one else tests for it as part of their standard OAT. If anyone knows differently, I would be happy to hear about it. The marker is 2-Methylhippurate. In most cases, exposure and the existance of xylene is quickly apparent if the level of 2-Methylhippurate is high but not always. The reason for this is insufficiant quantities of glycine available to bind with 2-Methylbenzoate which is the by product of the oxidation of xylene. Now straight glycine supplementation may not be the optimal method of detoxification as I believe in using it in conjunction with a broad spectrum amino acid supplement. As for the plastics issue, xylene is part of the " family " of petrochemicals used to create plastics. In my opinion though, plastic outgassing is not the main source of xylene exposure for our children or ourselves so spending a lot of energy on avoiding that source is not that fruitfull. The main sources are paints, solvents and pesticides. My child began having seizures two weeks after a major professional pesticide spraying around our condo complex. At first I thought it was coincidence but the more I detoxed her for xylene, the better she got until presently where she has no seizures. I believe you said glycene [??] is used to lower the level?? Also, is xylene the " main thing " in plastics one could be damaged by? Or is this just " one of many " things we could all be concerned about? THANK YOU! Moria
Guest guest
Mark, Have you tried vitamin C and Sauna for detoxing xylene? How do you detox xylene before? Glycine and broad spectrum of amino acids? We also did MetaMetrix ION which includes OAT, that is how I found out about high xylene. mt Schauss wrote: > Moria, > > I don't mind going over it as it is something that we will hear a lot > more about in the coming months and years (similar to the mercury > issue). > > The best test that I know of for xylene is a urine organic acid test by > MetaMetrix. Guest guest
Vitamin C and a sauna is not effective by themselves in detoxing xylene. You need to conjugate 2-methylbenzoate (aftermath of the cytochrome oxidation of xylene) with glycine. This is the best and most effective means of removing xylene. A caveat - while detoxing you must drink adequate fluids so the kidneys can eliminate the toxins.
