OK, so it's been 2 and half weeks since my surgery for EP. I had to have an

emergency laparotomy (OUCH) and boy am I taking my sweet time healing. I have

finally gone back to work for half days, but I have noticed a definite

increase in the pain. In fact I have this sharp pain in the ovarian area and

I don't know if I am ovulating or if there is a problem. I am so afraid that

I can't bear to call my RE. My HCG levels are practically nil but I don't

know what could be causing this pain. I also have been driving for the first

time the past two days and wonder if that may be having an impact. OK, but to

get to my questions....how long does it normally take for AF to come after

this. I had both the lap and a D/C. My RE said the D/C is like having AF so

it should start anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks after. Is that about right? and

then what about O'ing...how long does it take to get back on track? I was a

perfect 28 day cycle but have heard that it can still take months to get back

on track. My fear is that I am 35 yo, and I don't have unlimited time. It's

frightening to have to wait and also to know that I will now only have one

tube. My RE said we will do ultrasounds to insure I am o'ing from the left

ovary before we do DIUI, and I just can't imagine what I will do if that

doesn't happen for awhile. I have read that you switch sides each month and

also read that there is no pattern..Any thoughts? I just want to get back to

the place where we can be actively TTC. I hate this down time even though I

know I need it to heal...I just am so in the dark about how it proceeds from

here.

Dana,

I will try to help with some of your questions. AF may do anything. Your RE

is right in saying it will probably take 4-8 weeks, but there are those in

this group that have experienced things slower and faster. I know how

frustrating it is to wait. I had a lap., but no D/C as they thought there

might be another pg in my uterus. So I had to wait to miscarry that. I had

a lot of cramping also, but my hcg levels took 6 weeks to go down, so that

was a lot of my cramping - bleeding. I then expected to wait 4-8 weeks for

my first AF, but it came the next day! As far as having one tube it may take

longer, but if you use clomid or injectables it helps to have you O from both

sides. Many of us are pg with one tube - hope that gives some hope.
