Subject: PTManager: A note about Moderation and Virus Problems

PTManagers:

As most of you know, this is a moderated list serv. It has been for most

of its [almost] 15 year history.

Moderation means that all posts require approval by the list owner [ME].

Recently, we have seen a dramatic increase in virus-laden messages being

sent to PTManager by email accounts registered to members of the list.

Some days, there have been over 50 of these.

As moderator, I do not let them get through to the full membership

[thousands of members].

I am writing today to give everyone on the list fair warning that we are

changing our virus moderation policy.

Starting now, if your email account sends a virus or non-sense message to

PTManager, I will reject it and let you know why.

If your email account sends a second such virus or non-sense message, I

will remove your email account from the PTManager membership.

You should fix the virus issue first and then you will need to re-subscribe

to continue participating in PTManager.

If, after you re-subscribe, your email account continues to send virus or

non-sense messages, I will have no recourse except to ban that email

address from PTManager.

If you want to participate in PTManager after being banned, you will need a

different email address.

Sorry for any inconvenience that this causes.

I think all members understand why we need to do this

This policy will be implemented starting today.
