Guest guest
Hi Jan: I can't guarantee Surgicel is right, but I was able to pull up several popliteal bypasses in which it was used. I was not able to document in Stedman's Equipment Words. Jayni This e-mail has been scanned with Norton Antivirus updated no more than 12 hours ago. Is your virus program up to date? s/l surgiseal coagulant? Clear DayHi all.. I'm doing a fem-pop bypass dictated by a resident to tends to mumble. When the anastomosis is finished he says " Both anastomotic sites were then treated with s/l surgiseal coagulant. " I cannot document s/l surgiseal anywhere including Vera Pyle or mtdesk.com. Could possible be mispronouncing Surgicel? Thanks in advance. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Guest guest
Thanks for checking. He's gonna get surgiseal flagged. I don't want to assume it's Surgicel and find out I'm wrong. While I was waiting, I googled for " surgiseal coagulant " and got no hits at all. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Guest guest
Jan, It is always possible that they have come up with another new way of coagulating things, like the Angio-Seal and Vasoseal now used with catheterizations. According to D & D Surgicel is a " topical local hemostat for surgery, " so he may just be mispronouncing Surgicel, thinking there is an " e " on the end. There were several types of Surgicel in the American Drug Index, 2002, Two are used as bone cement, the other as a hemostatic. So I thought, well coagulation means making the blood clot, but when looking up coagulants in the index, it says " See hemostatics " hope this helps, rather than muddies the water. Guest guest
Jan, I did find " Surgicel dressing, Surgicel gauze, Surgicel gauze dressing, Surgicel implant placement, and Surgicel implantation. " These were all found in Tessier's " The Surgical Word Book. " Hope that this helps. s/l surgiseal coagulant? Clear DayHi all.. I'm doing a fem-pop bypass dictated by a resident to tends to mumble. Guest guest
Thanks for looking. I found all those too, but I cannot document Surgicel coagulant. Because of the Q/A rules where I work, I can't " assume " it's Surgicel since I can't document it, so he got surgiseal anticoagulant flagged. That covers me so it's not counted as an error, plus it follows the verbatim rules. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules.
