Guest guest
Hi All: Even though I have many things to accomplish before the day arrives, I have a surgery date in pencil (I've got to get all my jobs done for Dr. R, you know) for July 19, 1999. No, my insurance has not done a turn-around, but I have complete faith in Walter Lindstrom, PLUS I discovered last night that I have a supplemental policy that kicks in if I wind up in Intensive Care. It's one of those catastrophic illness policies that I had added a rider to in 1991 for Intensive Care treatment coverage for any reason, not just cancer. How fortuitous was that! It's kind of my protection should things go wrong, which was worrying me to death if my insurance wasn't going to cover me, remembering Katy's story. So Dr. R. will need to put me in ICU at the first sign of trouble (but there won't be any trouble!). This way (1) I feel that Walter will prevail and my insurance company will come through like they should - we still have over 60 days, and (2) even if they don't, the most I should be out is the cost of a Toyota. So I told my dh and he is very excited for me. This is 97% of the battle for me....getting him to leave his office for over a week. But armed with a cell phone, pager, phone books, and a 24-hour answering service, he will be with me in Durham July 19. So for those of you still battling insurance, I'm still right in there with you. I just decided to make a date and be ready to pay cash and let Walter (the attorney) do the rest. Now, I'm sure I don't have the wonderful elation of winning the giant insurance battle YET, but I've got to tell you, knowing I'm on the schedule one way or the other is darned exciting! And having my ultra-conservative doctor and my super conservative husband agree that this is a good plan is just icing on the cake. Anybody else scheduled for July 19th???? :-) Vicki Marton Oklahoma
