Hi Jeff,

The answer is no. CMS only allows MDs and DOs as well as podiatrists and

ophthalmologists (obvious within their scope of practice) and any associated

NPP.

Dentists and chiropractors cannot refer and you get paid by Medicare. You

would also need to check your state practice act, as there is no reason not

to treat the patient if allowed by your state. It would be an excluded

benefit as far as Medicare was concerned.

It doesn't happen often so I am not positive. I know our state Medicaid

program does not recognize chiropractors but is a chiropractor allowed to

sign a Medicare POC?
