Guest guest
O.K. As some of you (alas!) may recall, I had a lot of fun convincing Swanson Broth () that their advertisement about their recipes tasting "as good as Grandma" were ridiculous. Finally one that one--for now. Now, we have ATT advertising their cell phone services on television. Something about a teen- aged girl trying to reach her Dad to tell him that she is spending the night with a girl friend. So far, so good. Then the voice behind the add goes on to say, "Uh! Oh! He won't get that message be cause he does not have 'enough bars' to receive it." Bad, but the next part is really choice: lift your plaques up for this one: "You will be the girl with the angry father whom no one wants to date." Apart from the neatly misplaced modifier (Who the heck wanted to date her angry father, anyway?), the logic is tortured, as it is HIS phone which is not working, not the girl's cell phone. So, I called up my friend, Edna, who has MS, and she got it right away. No problem. I told my significant other about it (no MS) and I had to explain the whole thing to him. I just assume that if we who have MS just put any two of our brains together, lift those plaques, and think together, that any two of us are pretty doggoned smart. Or: you could feel free to ignore, delete or mark as 'spam.' Love to you all, n
Guest guest
I know the commercial, and I thought the same thing the first time I saw it. LOL, it had the family on the floor laughing. But DH scratched his head. LOL kids and MS gets it. Don't know if that means I have the brain of a teenager or they have the brain of a MS person. At least we thought we were smart. LOL Always, marion j rojas wrote: O.K. Guest guest
Yes! I had not mentioned that, but I am the mother of three daughters and one son, and that definitely struck me. Besides, if the mother was around, the girl would most likely have called me. Duh! Ads are illiterate and disgusting unless they are really funny--say the "Happy Cow" ads. Keep on laughing, and enjoying language, n Re: The MS brain at work. . . again. . .some humor Ah , but the girl won't have anyone wanting to date her because her father was going around knocking on everyone's car windows looking for his daughter. I didn't see it as being because of the phone not working so much as because when he doesn't hear from her he goes out looking for her. And what teenage boy wants to have a father peeking through his car window when he is out with his daughter? The part of the commercial I found fault with was- What child still living at home is stupid enough to spend the night at someones house without talking to the parent in person on the phone? Most teenagers I know have to ask permission of a parent to stay at someones house. And if she didn't get a hold of him the first time, why didn't she try again later?Debbie and Ian McKinley (BMD since 93)no litters Kansas http://home. hit.net/~ dimck/ Brighteye Bushy Tail Gretchen CD,CGC11/11/92 - 10/07/03.
