surviving the casts

I had foot surgery on both feet as a kid, so don't know if this will

help or not. I was in casts up to my knees for 6-8 weeks. The last 2

weeks I got walking casts so could move around in the house. Otherwise

was in a wheelchair. But wherever a wheelchair could go, my family took

me. I also learned to play chess that summer and started listening to

some French tapes. I also did alot of reading ahead for school and

worked on art projects. But what was really important was that I had

alot of friends and visitors come to see me. The casts did itch - so to

scratch the itch I used a knitting needle. When the casts came off my

feet felt like jello and it hurt to walk for awhile.
