Guest guest
Hi Ricky Joe, Make sure your hands are clean. Having any food or substance on your hands can give a false high reading. I would not panic immediately since one high blood sugar will not harm you. Drinking lots of water will also help bring your blood sugar down faster. Paradoxically, eating low- or no-carb foods while it's high will also help; if you don't eat your body thinks you are starving an will just pump out its own glucose to try and help. You could try exercising to see if that helps, but sometimes this will just make your blood sugar go higher so be sure to test fifteen or so minutes into it to make sure this isn't happening, and if it is, stop right away. If you can't get it down on your own, you should give your doctor a call to see whether you need medication and/or insulin. Jen
Guest guest
HI Ricky Joe, Jen had some excellent comments. I would repeat something she mentioned, that being, sometimes type 2 diabetics can benefit from insulin. This may, or may not, be the case with you right now. Sometimes the body just does things we don't understand. Also, stress can raise bg readings, as can illness. Is there a possibility these last 2 things I mentioned are affecting you? Dave God doesn't hate sinners, just sin! help bg is extremely high Hi all, I just checked my bg three times twice on the advocate and once on the prodigy voice. I'm getting a reading of 335 what can I do to reduce these numbers. I haven't eaten any major carbs today like bread, rice, oatmeal or potatoes. Had two eggs for breakfast and chicken salad made with no sugar mayonnaise. I'm a little scared since I haven't had a reading this high in the three months I've been testing. Not even close.
