Guest guest
Our understanding is that the referring provider must be licensed in the state where they see the patient, not necessarily where the patient is seeking therapy. Guest guest
Many states prohibit cross boarder orders. I'd start there. I think it is pretty transparent to Medicare as long as the MD/DO has a provider number /licensed and has a current license Ron Barbato PT Administrative Director, Rehabilitation Services Program Director, Cancer Support Services Ephraim McDowell Health Voice: Fax: Board Member , KPTA rbarbato@... Guest guest
My experience in matters such as this is that it really doesn't matter what my state practice act says I have to adhere to the requirements of Medicare. Guest guest
Sorry I misread your post. You are correct, the patient should have current script (I require within 30 days) of MD assessment. Guest guest
Jeff et. al. - One of Medicare's requirements is that the provider be in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. The patient must be under the care of an MD/DO, as demonstrated by the certified Plan of Care. In Florida, if we're certifying an outpatient, the practice act requires a Florida licensed MD/DO. Hope that helps!
