Guest guest
Today is the official arrival day of spring in Sweden, the so called "Valborgsmässoafton" [literal translation: Valborg's -Mass - Eve, Valborg being a female name], also known (in other countries, not in Sweden) as Walpurgis Night. It's one of the main holidays in Sweden, traditionally celebrated with the lightning of bonfires (after sunset) and by the singing of traditional soring songs (my favorite being: "Vintern rasat ut från våra fjällar" i.e. "Winter has fallen/slided out/down from our mouintains" always sung very powerfully by all-men's choirs - for some reason, unknown to me, most of these traditional spring songs are supposed to be sung by all-male choirs - listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LfdYysGZZM ).Me and my wife, , intend to spend the day doing some much needed putting in order of our deck - getting rid of the garbage accumulated there during winter, cleaning furniture etc. Apart from it being much needed it also seemed so very appropriate to put the place in order for spring/summer on the very official arrival of spring...Don't know if we'll go out to see bonfires and listen to songs live, or if we'll decide the TV-broadcast is better and more comfortable...love/Reb
