Guest guest
Are you running a fever? Or just have a VERY sore breast? I was on the VERGE of mastitis once, with my 3rd child(the first one I breastfed), my breast got clogged, and engorged, hurt like HECK, so bad I was in tears! I wasn't running a fever, etc, so we just went with verge of mastitis. My treatment? I pumped/breastfed/pumped/breastfed,etc,etc..until my breast was unclogged. No med's, but I'll tell you, I was in TEARS! Hurt worse than childbirth! Guest guest
Hi Jill I understand Augmentin will pass into the breast milk (I think all antibiotics do?), but that in fairly small quantities, it may give the baby diahorrea. I had Keflex for mastitis (severe), following intravenous antibiotics, for us the baby showed no problems (she was then aged 11 weeks and then again at 15 weeks). Augmentin? >From: Bakinglass@... > >I've come down with mastitis and my doc prescribed augmentin. Actually, they >were so booked with colds and flu that we worked it over the phone. Guest guest
I recently had an ear infection and my dr prescribed augmentin for it. It is safe while bf. However, I had a horrible reaction to it that included stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, etc. It was horrible. The stomach cramps felt like I was in labor all over again. They really hurt that bad!! I never had a reaction to antibiotics before so I was very surprised! Good luck. e >---------- >From: Bakinglass@...[sMTP:Bakinglass@...] >Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 1999 2:21 AM >To: breastfeedingonelist >Subject: Augmentin? > >From: Bakinglass@... > >I've come down with mastitis and my doc prescribed augmentin.
