My sincerest congratulations.

Lots of people think the date of surgery is the date they pass " to the other

side. " The truth is that healing starts when you've made up your mind to

have the surgery, and the healing accelerates when you've been approved and

get a date.

Cheryl is absolutely right! The focus should be on WLS and our struggles. I

know how valuable all of you have been to me. Again, I apologize for hurting

anyone's feelings as that was never intended. I will definitely read my post

twice before sending!

Dear ,

Dr R's website has a bunch of information on it, although I'm sure you've

already read it.

Kathy (thestewarts@webtv) is the queen of insurance

appeals....contact her and look at the appeal letter samples on the web

site.

You might also want to post and ask someone who successfully appealed to

send you a copy of some of their letters.

Some insurance companies will pay for the surgery with a Body Mass Index of

40 or above without co-morbid conditions, or 35 + with co-morbidities.

Good luck in your pursuit for approval.

Welcome! I think you called Cheryl Saturday while I was there.

Talk to your doctor. I'll bet there are problems with joints, or your blood

pressure, skin problems (from folds of skin, you know). Depending on how

overweight you are, just the amount of overweight might be a factor. If

he/she is willing to write a letter--or sign one that you've written--it

could make a difference.

Good luck

Shirley,

Some women have problems with weight and menses. I am one. If I can hit

around 200 I will start to have my period again. My doctor says it has

something to do with the amount of estrogen the extra adipose tissue

produces. Which on some hand is kind of cool but on others is kind of not.

Shirley,

I didn't have amennorhea pre-op, but I did have a very screwed up cycle. I

would go for three or four months at a time without a period. I'm three

months post-op and have since had two periods. I'm thinking I'm on my way to

being on a regular cycle... which oddly enough makes me happy! :)

Barbara,

I also researched many options before I decided to go with Dr. Rutledge. It

seemed that the gastric banding was going to be the way to go for me until I

hit on one line on one web site..... You can still drink sweet & carbonated

drinks with a vertical band... Well I have always been a big Pepsi addict.

I knew that would not work for me. I had to have something that would make

it impossible for me to drink sweet drinks and candy. So I opted for the

MGB. Now I really can't handle sweets and after three weeks I have lost

23#. Good luck with your research!

Good luck. I flew all the way across the US (literally) to have Dr. R do my

surgery. He's great and those wings are well hidden!

Hi - go to Dr. Rutledge's site, clos.net, and read, read, read.

You'll get all your questions answered, even some you didn't know you had.

Good luck. This is a LIFE-SAVING AND LIFE-CHANGING procedure. Thank God

and Dr. R.

Just a little funny to start everyone's day off on a light note. Zephyr

SOME GOOD IDEASWhen you get ads in your phone or utility bill, include them with the payment. Let them throw it away. When you get those pre-approved letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and junk like that, most of them come with postage paid return envelopes, right? Well, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little envelopes! Send an ad for your local dry cleaner to American Express. Or a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their application back! If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them. You can send it back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! Eventually, the banks and credit card companies will begin getting all their junk back in the mail. Let's let them know what it's like to get junk mail, and best of all THEY'RE paying for it! Twice! Let's help keep our postal service busy since they say e-mail is cutting into their business, and that's why they need to increase postage again! Send this to a friend or two or three...or fifty....

I'm still mad at my computer, by the way. That's why it took me so

long to come back on and gripe. I still have my list, but am

concerned about trying to post it again. Should I post it in

pieces? This would not keep me from being stressed about it though.
