Otherwise, a secretary four states away can sign for the mail and it will still get lost in the insurer's internal mail system. Also, make sure you have a complete address. A year or so ago I was corresponding with a disability insurer out of Massachusetts. I discovered that by putting the building number (theyhad a whole corporate campus) my letters were received and read with a matter of a few days instead of 6-8 weeks as had been the case previously.
