Guest guest
Harry, Nice article about type 2. I'm still hesitant about insulin despite its merits since, for the most part, my sugars are fairly well cotnrolled, with my only real concern being that it takes me about 2-1/2 to 2-3/4 hours to reach a good post-meal blood sugar, not 2 hours, and for reasons I don't quite understand. But my fastings are good, and my levels always seem to be well within normal limits, as long as I don't overindulge. When I blow it, I find out very quickly and I face up to it and revert to doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I will be getting a new doc in January and from the beginning am going to ask about insulin, but also I'm going to ask him to let me have a referral to an actual endo. My previous doc said I didn't need an endo since my sugars were very well controlled, but I would just feel better having someone on my " team " who is more attuned to working with diabetes, despite the fact insurance will have to pay out more money for my care. Now here's a question I haven't seen come up. Let's say I try insulin and I find it's more of a hassle for me than using oral meds, what then happens if I just want to stay on the orals instead? Is there any harm if you switch back to just oral meds? At any rate, I look forward to the next installment of that article. Very informative reading, it's a keeper.
