Guest guest
Hello all, As a few of you may of heard the United Kingdoms brilliant government has now decided to " target " the disabled who are unable to work this is because or so they say because of the recession which I don't believe in due to the amount of money we pour out of this country day in day out it's a estimated 1.5 million a day to other places who are in the same position to us how is this helping? The DWP (department for work and pensions) has stated DLA will cease as of 12th feb 2013 and will become a Personal living allowance or PIP everyone who currently receives this in the United Kingdom under the name DLA will be removed and benefits stopped and we will all have to go through a " medical " which aren't done by proper medical teams here they know nothing and ask about stuff which has nothing to do with medical questions and they don't even ask anything to do with condition the person suffers. I also had a email stating that mobility cars on the scheme will cease and they ask for the return of my car by end of this month not happening as I am in hospital anyway, at the bottom of the email said failure to do so will result in a heavy fine and or bailiffs will force-able remove the car from my possession also I will be demanded to attend court, Yet I know a few people who have a mobility car and yes they are wheelchair users but I will be soon the rate I am carrying on if I lose the car I lose my Independence not that I have much now my legs have seen to that just I am being a stubborn so and so and not given in although I am going to have to like my GP said how long am I going to go on crawling up the stairs to bed. Yes I have been involved in something like 9 car accidents which none were my it was the car one the breaks failed the second the steering locked on me and the second the Tyre blew doing 80 up the motorway I am not a perfect driver nor will I pretend to be to be truthful who is? One was my fault due to bad pain I had no choice but to drive home and I passed out and woke up in a hospital bed one of those things I never truly realized why I did but I did. Are the UK government really trying to make people sicker by adding rubbish to the lives which are rubbish already!!!!!!!! Is there anything I can do to stop them before they make a huge mistakes and people die from them? Donna, I'm sorry the cut backs are going to affect you directly. However, you should realize that there is no such thing anywhere except Britain and France where access to independent transportation was ever supplied to the disabled. The cost of doing so has become more than either country can bear. In most countries, getting any kind of help with transportation is a huge problem. Most disabled people are lucky if they get transit help of any kind. That means getting a bus ticket to a sort of accessible bus or in rural areas, getting any transport at all. The city where I live and the nearby cities, don't even have one handicapped accessible taxi. I know it may not seem so, but you are very fortunate to get the services that you do get. I know that sounds a little mean, but most of us would give a lot to get the services you do. I pay over $630 per month just for medical insurance. That covers up to 80% of some costs. That seems bad enough, but when I broke my leg last month, it cost me an additional $800 to spend the emergency room. Many people who have to stay in hospital for any time at all, often end up having to declare bankruptcy. My friend, who has recently become quite disabled, cannot even qualify for medical insurance and has yet to qualify for any government help. She currently has no choice but to have back surgery or soon she will not be able to walk at all. She lives just outside the city limits, so she cannot get any reliable transportation. She is currently setting up an agreement with the hospital and doctors that will be doing her surgery. The estimated bill is $78,000.00. That doesn't include the care she will need for her disabled child. That will run another $35,000. She would switch places with you in a heartbeat.
