Guest guest
Today was the first day of my pain doctor and I had so many forms to fill out. every person was so nice! I get in and the Doctor was very NICE! nice enough to tell me that he doesn't give out Methadone, Wow! that was a waste of my time and I could of went and watched my girls perform at dance. so thank the Lord I still have meds left but I am back at square one. I have to go to my primary doctor and find another one and PRAY he gives me another rx when I run out until I find a Doctor. this pain doctor didn't do nothing but come in and start with pain medicine talk. I should call my insurance up and let them know that he didn't treat me at all. they shouldn't get paid to come in the room and tell some one that. he did go through what he does give out if I want to go off Methdone but I tried them and they didn't work. NEXT My blood pressure was great! all because I was on my meds. he even said that I was on a high dose of morphine, I was like What The (bad word)? then to be stranger, when the doctor first came into the room he said could my husband take the kids out of the room and we said no and then he decided he would speak and I was like, why would he ask that and my husband said that he wasn't ok speaking about medicines in front of little kids or he thought that I was going to go off and be mental abusive and I didn't, all I did was thank him for being up front with us but I didn't like wasting my time with all those forms. my kids are far from dumb when it comes to medicine and what I take. i'd rather they know what is wrong with me and what I am on and be wondering what is going on. I can either change my insurance in hopes of a better doctor or I don't know. some how I need to know in my area who gives out methadone, If some one on here knows any one in my area or know of some one in my area then please send me that info I need. in Bullhead City Az
Guest guest
I wife and I use the same pain management doctor. She was sick on the day of my first appointment and when she started seeing him a few month later, they told me I had to wait in the waiting room, but only for the first visit. I have NO idea why, but they acted like we were crazy for wanting to both if us in the appointment. We've always been each other's patient advocates, so it was weird for us. I've heard of PCPs not prescribing methadone, but I've NEVER heard of a pain doc refusing to prescribe methadone unless they refuse to prescribe any opioids. Wish I had something more helpful to say, best of luck! Guest guest
That is so crazy, but it just seems like all the doctors now are stopping giving anything that helps with pain. (Unless THEY are in pain, then it is real.) God grant that you will be able to find a renegade doctor who can help you. It angers me that he would assume (ok, seem to assume) that you'd take his stupidity out on the kids. Idiots. Guest guest
He said his reasoning for not giving methadone out is because he said it's a dangerous medicine to take. I can't believe how much I slept today. I woke up at 4pm and went to bed before 3am, that I know. I woke up and felt like I could still use some sleep but I decided to pull my self together and wake up. even more strange is I told my husband that I have this odd urge to go back to work which I don't know how I could manage and also if not work I had this odd urge to go back to volunteering for CASA (court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected kids. who knows what I will end up doing but dang, I wish I knew why I get these urges that I never used to get. in Az > M. wrote: > I've heard of PCPs not prescribing methadone, but I've NEVER heard of a pain doc refusing to prescribe methadone unless they refuse to prescribe any opioids. Guest guest
I just wanted to add that I think most pain doctors will not prescribe methadone until they have tried other medications and treatments. Withdrawal from methadone is very severe. It is a medication that must be taken as prescribed and monitored. I would think that giving a new patient methadone would really be irresponsible. I am sorry if you covered this and I just can't remember, but did you say that you have tried other pain medications? Keep in mind also that jumping to a stronger pain med without exhausting other less potent ones giving you less future choices should the stronger medication stop offering relief. I have been on codeine for 5 years now. It is not perfect and I have learned to get used to a certain level of pain. It took some time but my pain doctor has found a combination of medications that keeps my pain level low. I also try to excerice and do yoga. I volunteer a few hours a week so I can keep my sanity. It also helps me keep my pain manageable. Don't give up on your doctor and keep trying different combinations of activities and medication to manage your pain.
