Thanks Cheryl

I had one bout of this 20 years ago, after surgery. It reached the

stage where it felt like fire ants were constantly biting me. It was

relentless. I was in the hospital off and on for several months doing

extensive rehab. Then one day, I woke up and it was gone!

I've only had one day so far where I've felt like my foot and leg and

being eaten alive. So far, it has consisted of my foot and lower leg

turning horrible colours of deep mottled purple and almost black,

followed by having my foot turn very cold. Then my whole body breaks out

in the equivalent of a menopausal sweat. The pain isn't any worse in my

foot and leg than in other parts of my body, so it's just another thing

for my same meds to help. I can't even do something as simple as curl

my toes and my normally high arch is touching the floor when I stand up.

It's all very uncomfortable.

My physiotherapy team is excellent. They make up for the doctor. Every

time I see him, it seems that his mind is a million miles away. I was

the one who pointed out the problem to him, when it was in its earliest

stage, or he'd have missed it all together. He wasn't rushing or

anything, he just wasn't paying attention to the obvious. I'm going to

have one more appointment with him and if he's just as absent minded, I

will have to find a new doctor. Hopefully, he's paying attention, 'cause

that's the day he's supposed to fit me with a foot and leg brace for

wearing with a shoe.

I'm hoping to be able to do a little gardening this year. Everything is

happening a month early outdoors, but I'll stick with my old schedule.

Hubby hates gardening, but I have a friend who loves it. I may have to

get my husband to do the soil turning and then have my friend get the

plants in the ground for me. Then I'll just have to figure out how to

weed and water and squish bugs. :-)

Ever the Optimist
