Guest guest
" Out of all the people I miss, I miss me the most! " I heard that somewhere and I think it applies to us. We have lost our jobs, our friends and sometimes family. I have never heard of meet up but it sounds interesting and I think with all the computers in this day and age people just don't talk face to face any more like we did in the old days. My Mom taught me to play bridge back in junior high and played it in college and in my yearly adult years and up until I hit my late 40's. Now I play online but it is not the same. I'd like to get back into playing duplicate bridge but that means finding a group and then getting into a car and driving there. I have no car anymore as my engine blew last year and I can not even afford a used car. I fill my days with painting and drawing and even have sold some of them. A long time ago I started out as an art major but then switched to teaching/nursing as I figured I would need to make money rather than be a starving artist. I also watch TV, love the crime shows and the BBC. I just started playing video games on the Wii. I have a hard time with the other controllers as my thumbs get locked and so I can't push the buttons. Also I find it to be good exercise. Looks like I will be shoveling snow in awhile as it is snowing again. Peggy/MI
Guest guest
Hi Peggy, My grandparents played contract bridge and taught me the basics. We'd play for hours when we got together. Playing on-line, even with human partners, just isn't the same. You could check meetup for bridge groups. Also call the senior centers near you. They often have bridge days. They have always been receptive for anyone else joining them. As for transportation, check with 211. If you live in the country, there should be a rural shuttle that can come to your door. If you are in a city, many places have a disabled shuttle that can be arranged. Once you get in touch with a group, I am sure there is some senior bridge player who is still driving who would love to come get you in exchange for some gas money. > peggy wrote: > I'd like to get back into playing duplicate bridge but that means finding a group and then getting into a car and driving there.
