I feel the same way when the water hits or splashes on my legs and feet. Since

my nerve/ muscle pain is only in my legs and feet, I hurry up and let the water

hit my upper body and the water rolls onto my legs and feet. I must say, I enjoy

baths much more than showers.

Thank you. It is nice to know I am not alone when it comes to this. I thought I

was being a baby and baths are hard to do without help getting in and out of the

tub.

Gentle hugs,

It's sad so many of us have such pain just aiming for cleanliness, but also good

to know it's not just me.

I don't have the water-feeling-like-needles problem myself. For me, it's the

moving my arms around to wash my hair or shave that's the issue.

Sure doesn't seem fair!

I can't keep my arms up or even sit on a shower chair long enough to wash

and condition my hair due to my AVN. So I go every week to Great Clips

and have them wash my hair. I can wash the rest of me but I have shoulder

length or longer hair (used to be lots longer) and I'm not willing to cut

it anymore I look dumb with short hair!

I understand! I have a deep soaking jacuzzi tub and my legs feel almost normal

when I am in it but I need my husband's help to get out of it. I only take baths

when he is home and he never strays out of yelling distance for me. Weekday

mornings before I start working and after he leaves for work I am forced to deal

with the shower.

So true, . It's amazing how many simple things we took for granted before.

I used to enjoy my shower time as a way to decompress and relax after a day of

work and on weekends as a part of my pampering time. Now taking a shower,

washing my hair and painting my toenails all seem like chores. Although I am

very thankful it isn't as bad as it could be.

I am also going through menopause so I shower every day before dinner. I had to

get my long hair cut to just below the shoulders

in a very layered look with bangs. I like it, it's easy to wash and brush

out and I keep cool because of it being layered. I do not look good in short

hair either. I have a hard time standing very long so showers are get it done,

sad to say. My legs, especially my left leg/hip are just getting worse. Darned

sciatica/etc. My legs just hurt anymore. My back goes numb on the left side

after the pain is too much.

Yep, the simple pleasures of life are, um, depends what the day is like and how

I feel.

I hurt so I must be alive.

hugs, Coleen

Please don't give yourself unnecessary pain. I think the last time I

painted my toenails was about 1970 :-) The world didn't crash when I

stopped doing it and no one else thought a thing about it.

I go to great clips to get my hair washed and the nail salon to get acrylic

nails filled and decorated every couple of weeks (or when they start

popping off). I pamper myself as much as possible especially now that they

want me in a wheelchair aka off my legs as much as possible... there is

more about that in my caringbridge site. Every time I think about i want

to cry.

So that is my thoughts for the day. Normally I would be doing this from my

phone with my legs up on the bed, but my phone is being a butthead like my

brother at the moment so it won't let me use it while it charges so I am

out on the actual computer and it is killing my legs even though there is

no weight on them. Loving this... NOT!

All,

I know water and soap do not take place of clean but when my Mom was bed bound,

the two things they used for the personal areas, shampoo and body cleanser were

great. You can get them at any medical supply store or here is a link I found.

http://www.westcoastmedicalsupply.com/No_Rinse_Shampoo_and_Wipes_s/170.htm

I like the No Rinse and those of you on Medicaid can ask for them and they

usually are given to you free, along with Ensure, bed waterproof sheets. I like

the No Rinse as the smell is nice and it gets the dirt out. I used to have to

use this on my Mom also and I was going to make sure she never smelled bad as

that was a main goal of hers never to smell.

Well, I used to bath daily and I have to say it is a struggle to get up and bath

or do anything else unless I force my self to. It is a hard word when it is a

hurtful world. Bennie
