Guest guest
, May I ask the dosage that worked for you? Carla risperadol - Help! I have made the hard decision to add Risperadol to my son for a short period while I sort out what his needs are right now. I know many of you possibly don't agree with it and I respect that, I'm not sure I do either but his obcessive behaviors and tantrums are not good right now. He is 4 1/2 yrs. old and is somewhat verbal. He has been on it 2 weeks and I see no improvements and actually his obcessive compulsiveness is worse - now my question: Do you see worse behaviors before any better behaviors or do you see a gradualness of better behaviors. OR------What exactly am I suppose to see over time - because I see nothing right now and actually I think he is worse. I have also started the medicine in gradual doses - not the full blown dose right away. I've been upping it over the two weeks. I'm starting my 3rd week this week. Any suggestions or comments welcome. FRUSTRATED! Thanks for any advice.... Carla
Guest guest
karla everyone is telling you risperdal sucks. the reason is simple its action is built around fluorine as a potent neurotoxin > , > > May I ask the dosage that worked for you? > > Carla > risperadol - Help! > > > I have made the hard decision to add Risperadol to my son for a short period while I sort out what his needs are right now. Guest guest
He started out at .50 in the am and pm, then was raised to .75 2x per day. About 6 months later it was raised to 1 ml 2 x per day. He was on the 1 ml for about 6 months until we had to take him off. He was weaned over 6 weeks and while weaning him, I found .50 AM and .25 PM to be a great dose for him. He didn't seem so drugged but still had control over his issues. risperadol - Help! Guest guest
Risperadol question: I decided to take my son off Risperadol after 3 weeks of seeing no improvements and possible worse OCD's and the neurologist also agreed. He also is very sleepy during the day. This is his 5th day off and he his behaviors are just awful. Should I have weaned him off? Is that the problem? The doctor didn't say to. I'm beyond frustrated with these OCD's he has - They seem to be getting worse. I can't go anywhere that has farm animals of any kind - he will not accept not taking or having them. He carries around a huge backpack full of little animals that he has collected over time. At least 50 in the bag. We had a huge meltdown over cookies in the store the other day. He wanted two huge boxes. I told him to pick one and he lost it - and extremely loud! He steals something everyday from school and I have to return it the next day. The teacher knows the routine. Usually a cow or elephant figure. He tries to take the speech therapists animals but she stops him and we have another huge meltdown. He just doesn't learn not to take them and medicine doesn't help the OCD's. They seem more intense each day. What helps OCD's go away???? I can't take him anywhere without him obcessing over taking or wanting something. We carry his backpack around the house,an elephant calendar, and a ziploc bag full of animal cutouts. Do you see how ridiculous this gets? Why does he need them? (He is somewhat verbal, 4 1/2 yrs. old, diagnosed as high-functioning autism) Thanks. Carla Re: [ ] What NOW? Guest guest
Carla, from your email, I was noticing that your son collects animal figures, basically. Children have a tendency to collect animals or stuffed toys and carry them around when they feel like they need a friend with them. Wanting a lot of things can also be a sign of insecurity. Children can feel very insecure especially with mercury toxins in them. Mercury will do this to them. This is the way my son also became after the MMR vaccine booster at age 12. At home, he carries some animal or friend figure with him all the time. When he first started doing this, we asked him why he did it. He said these stuffed animals were his friends. Collecting things helps a lot of people feel more secure. These things can serve as a security blanket. Chelation should eventually help him to feel more secure in the future, especially when all the mercury and other heavy metals come out. Is the school working on building up his self esteem? This is something you may want to bring up with the school, if it is not already being done. Guest guest
Carla, risperdal takes two months to get completely in the brain. We also have huge OCD issues here. It just took us 10 minutes to get out the door for the bus because all the lights and cabinets were not closed. We have just added prozac, but at a very small dose to see if that will help. Also, I would always wean off a med no matter how tiny the dose since most kids have sensitive systems.
Guest guest
My daughter has been taking riserdol for about 3 and a half yrs now. The med itself helps some with her behavoir but the side effects are not that great. She can be playing or watching t.v. and just start jerking. The drs said it is a side effect from risperdol. But if I try taking her off or lowering her dose too much, she goes " crazy " so to speak. You need to talk to your dr more about it and ask ALOT of questions. I hope this helps you. > > > > > > We were visiting TX for a few weeks and on the way home, my daughter's chin > > > was really itchy and her jaw was sore. Guest guest
Boys have developed breasts like females while on it, it has also been known to cause diabetes and weight gain in some. The problem with pharmaceuticals is that they address only one part of a problem, such as one pump or receptor in the body. Before you know it, there is a problem somewhere else because the root cause has not been addressed, are you following? I suggest you do a search and read about people (moms, usually) trying to wean their kids off it, it isn't easy. Everyone I've ever known who has had their kids on the prescription meds has always gone back and forth with dosing trying to " get it right " , to me it isn't worth it. I'd rather chelate and supplement nutritionally so I can see and deal with what's " really " going on. Take care, Liz > > > > > > We were visiting TX for a few weeks and on the way home, my daughter's chin > > > was really itchy and her jaw was sore.
