Guest guest
Hi , I used to work out at the gym (weights) 5 days a week before my work re-lated injury (I have 4 torn discs in my neck and have arthritis in both knees and right hip) I was medically retired from my job due to this when I was 38 years (now 45 years) My doctor told me to get into the pool at the gym, at first I was crushed, only the " older " people got into the pool and I couldn't get a good work out like I used to in the pool. Oh how wrong i was! I have been taking water aerobics ever since and LOVE it! In fact I'm planning on getting certified to teach water classes this summer. You really get a good workout and the water is great resistance. Some of the instructors have music and we are dancing/singing so it doesn't seem like you are working out, you're having fun!! With water aerobics plus doing Weight Watchers, I have lost 35 pounds and I feel so much better!!! I have also started a walk with some of my Weight Watchers friends, so every Sunday (rain or shine) we walk 6 miles at a park. We have decided to participate in the 5 kilometer walk for the Komen breast cancer and the 5 kilometer Relay for Life and the 5 kilometer Doggie Dash - whew, all this coming summer. I figured out a long time ago, I'm going to have pain no matter if I sit at home being depressed, so why not go out and have a life as the pain will be there anyways. I never thought my life would be like this, so why not live it? If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me anytime. Welcome to the group.
